RSE
Relationships and Sex Education
We follow ‘A Journey in Love’ which is the recommended Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) programme for Catholic primary schools. This is embedded in our whole school PSHE curriculum (see link below).
Programme Overview
- Core Philosophy: It is based on the belief that we are made in the image and likeness of God.
- Holistic Focus: It covers social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual development.
- Key Themes: Lessons focus on friendship, family, community, relationships, and spirituality.
Year Group Themes
- Early Years (EYFS): The wonder of being special and unique
- Year One: We meet God’s love in our family
- Year Two: We meet God’s love in the community
- Year Three: How we live in love
- Year Four: God loves us in our differences
- Year Five: God loves me in my changing and development
- Year Six: The wonder of God’s love in creating new life
Under current UK Department for Education regulations, parents have the right to request that their child be withdrawn from the “sex education” components of Relationships and Sex Education (RSE).
If you wish to withdraw your child, we invite you to speak to a senior staff member before making a final decision.
