Science parent workshop

In Science, we designed burglar alarms by using our knowledge of circuits. We invited our parents and families in to support us and they were a fantastic help! It was great to show them how much we know about electricity and to impress them by helping them. Thank you all for coming!

Electricity parent workshop

I’m Stick Man, I’m Stick Man…

Today, each child from Year 2 went on a stick hunt to make their very own Stick Man. After we made the stick men in our Art books, we wrote character descriptions for each one of them. Take a look at our great photos so far.

Science interventions

Great to see children across KS2 learning science together! This group is designed to give some of our pupils extra practise honing their scientific skills and developing their knowledge.

Elecromagnetism

Year 3 learned about electromagnetism yesterday. We were amazed to find out about magnetic fields and make our own with iron fillings.  The children then used electricity to interfere with a magnetic field. We tested this using a compass. Amazing!

Electrical conductors and insulators

Year 3 have been testing materials to find out if they are electrical conductors or electrical insulators.  They investigated their materials first and tried to make predictions based on what they already knew.

Science Parent Learning

Thanks so much to our wonderful parents who supported the children and teachers in Year 3 this week! We loved having you with us to build burglar alarms.  The children used their knowledge of circuits and conductors to make pressure pads and trip wires which sounded a buzzer when activated! Great stuff!

Year 2’s Bird Feeders

In English last week, Year 2 wrote instructions on how to make bird feeders. Today, we followed the instructions and made them using recycled bottles, kebab sticks and string. We are making bird feeders to help the birds eat during winter. We are going to put the seeds into the bottles the week after next, and hang them on the trees around school. Can you remember why birds find it hard to eat during winter Year 2? What did our book ‘Ten Things I Can Do to Help My World’ tell us?
