Prayer and Liturgy at the Heart of Everything We Do

At St Patrick’s, prayer and liturgy are central to our daily life. They provide opportunities for our children to encounter God, grow in faith and reflect on how they can live out the Gospel values in their everyday actions.

Our children regularly engage with Scripture, listening to and responding to Bible stories such as Noah’s Ark, the Nativity, Jesus Calming the Storm, The Road to Emmaus and the Call of the Disciples. Through discussion, drama, artwork and reflection, they deepen their understanding of God’s message and apply it to their own lives.

Prayer is embedded throughout the curriculum. Children write prayers to care for God’s creation, contribute to prayer trees, reflect on God’s gifts and give thanks for the beauty of the world around them. They learn traditional forms of prayer, explore the Rosary with parish visitors and participate in whole-school celebrations throughout the liturgical year.

Our strong parish links further enrich our prayer life. Children visit St Patrick’s Church take part in the May Procession, learn about the Church and its symbols, and celebrate important seasons such as Advent, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. These experiences help children understand that faith extends beyond the classroom and into the wider community.

Prayer inspires action. Through CAFOD fundraising, the Big Lent Walk, acts of kindness, caring for God’s creation and supporting one another, our children learn that prayer and liturgy call us to serve others with compassion and love.

Together, these experiences ensure that prayer and liturgy are not isolated events but a living part of everyday life at St Patrick’s, shaping our faith-filled community and helping every child grow spiritually, morally and socially.
