Maths Party

IMG_2828 IMG_2829 IMG_2830 IMG_2831 IMG_2832 IMG_2833Great fun at our maths party today, the children played so well together, and we revised rounding, multiplying by 10 and 100, and estimation!

Flamenco fun!

IMG_2816 IMG_2817 IMG_2820 IMG_2826We had an awesome time dancing the flamenco today! Great to learn about its roots from Arabic, Jewish, Spanish and gypsy people too, fascinating! It’s a ten from me!

La Tasca visit

IMG_2774 IMG_2776 IMG_2777 IMG_2780 IMG_2782 IMG_2791 IMG_2793We had an excellent morning at La Tasca, Liverpool as part of our Spanish studies for international week.  The children tried 4 different tapas dishes and some lovely children’s sangria! They practised some Spanish phrases to order food and converse with the waitress and chefs.  It was an excellent opportunity for them to practise their table manners, try new foods, and learn outside the classroom. What dishes did you try boys and girls?

iSing Festival 2017

A spectacular celebration of singing took place on Friday, with 1500 pupils from across Liverpool taking part in the iSing Festival at the Philharmonic Hall!  Every year, Resonate Music Hub brings together hundreds of school children and their teachers from 35 schools, to celebrate the amazing singing talent that exists in schools across our wonderful city.

St. Patrick’s had an incredible time at the event! All our Year 3s were there, plus all the KS2 members of choir, including our Resonate Singers who led the singing from the stage! The children learned a huge variety of songs, old and new, for the event, which also featured a special tribute to the 50th birthday of the Beatles’ Sgt Pepper album.  Mr. Larkin played in the live band and all our children graced the stage to lead the crowd in performing our very own mash-up: “Ghost Town Funk” – a mash up of Ghostbusters, Oops Upside Your Head and Uptown Funk that we wrote just for the event! What a great day!

Felting landscapes

IMG_2748 IMG_2750 IMG_2752 IMG_2753 IMG_2754 IMG_2755 IMG_2756Inspired by our country walk this week, class 3 have made felt landscapes. The outcome is absolutely beautiful!

Soggy, soggy Darwen!

IMG_2762 IMG_2763 IMG_2765 IMG_2518 IMG_2514 IMG_2513As part of our Geograhy fieldwork unit, we went to Darwen in Blackburn today. It poured down, but it didn’t dampen our amazing Year 3’s spirits! They stormed up Darwen Hill and loved exploring the Victorian folly.  Along the way, we explored different plant species, saw a field of ponies (and a foal!), a flock of sheep. It was rather misty, but we enjoyed the beautiful views of Darwen between the clouds! At the top, we had a picnic and Ruaa managed to slip in some reading time! A great day had by all; we were rather sleepy on the way home!

Dear Dinosaur!

IMG_2580 IMG_2581 IMG_2585 IMG_2613 IMG_2615 IMG_2628 IMG_2655For our whole school dinosaur book, we’ve been busy rearching, making and meeting dinosaurs!

Mummification workshop

IMG_2694 IMG_2704 IMG_2706 IMG_2739 IMG_2760We had the most incredible time learning how the ancient Egyptians mummified their royalty and wealthy citizens. Fascinating! What details can you remember?

Pond rescue!

On Friday Eco Club had a wonderful time rescuing tadpoles and other pond wildlife from our old pond, and moving them carefully to our beautiful new pond. Two frogs kept popping their heads up to watch us! Can you remember some of the creatures you spotted Eco Club?

Ruaa’s dad’s careers visit

Ruaa’s dad is a bone doctor.  He visited year 3 today to help us understand bones! It was great to have a specialist help us with our topic! Thanks, Dr Mohammed! image image image image image image
