We started our Lent fund-raising in Foundation Stage by making some tasty biscuits! Thanks to all the parents who bought them – we hope you enjoyed them! We are looking forward to making and selling some more tasty goodies next week.
Foundation Stage have loved learning about China and Chinese New Year! We researched some similarities and differences between china and Britain, found out what it might be like to go to a Chinese School, set up our own “Chinese restaurant”, learnt about chinese New Year traditions, and of course put on a show for our friends and families!
In February in Foundation Stage, we decided to have a pyjama party! We invited parents to come in and the children could wear pyjamas over their clothes! We turned Reception into a dark room so that we could investigate using torches and different lights. We also brought sleeping bags and teddy bears in to help us play Sleeping Lions in class. We had lots of fun designing our own pyjamas and making paper finger puppets and we even had some yummy hot chocolate! Night night everyone!
Nursery and Reception made some amazing ice art as the weather turned so cold. We found natural objects and placed them in water to freeze overnight. Look at the results!
Nursery and Reception finished 2012 with a sensational Christmas show, performing for the whole school as well as for family and friends. Parents had come into school a few weeks beforehand to help the children to make their own musical instruments and the children were able to use these instruments in the show, playing them brilliantly during a bilingual performance of Jingle Bells that was half in English and half in Spanish! The children also sang a number of other traditional Christmas songs, which included a special playing of their GarageBand version of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, and the always crowd-pleasing 10Little Soldiers! Well done everyone and thank you to everyone who came to watch.
In November, parents were invited to come to Foundation Stage to join in with some gardening and nature activities. The children decorated pine cones, made leaf rubbings, tended to our garden area and planted some seeds in a special part of our play area. Thank you to everyone for coming in and helping the children so nicely!
We have been as busy as ever in Foundation Stage recently! Our amazing children have been making their own musical instruments in preparation for our Foundation Stage Christmas show and they invited parents to come and help them with their creations! We were delighted to see so many people there to support the children and, I’m sure you’ll agree, the results were spectacular! Thank you all for coming.
In foundation stage, they have made a santa’s workshop. They have been dressing up as Santa, and his elves and Rudolph and have been building toys. This morning santa came to them and left some toys to play with. He also left a letter asking them to do a snow dance. The children also recorded themselves singing Rudolph the red nose reindeer on the Ipads.
