Yesterday, year 5 worked very hard to begin making their Binca Bookmarks in DT. We used lots of skills and design techniques to create our arvellous designs.
Year 5 had a wonderful time on their end of year trip to Jungle Parc. They worked brilliantly as a team and were incredibly brave to complete the tree top obstacles.
What a wonderful morning in year 5! To celebrate all of the different countries in Asia, we have been making lots of beautiful arts and crafts from the different countries we have been looking at.
Our wonderful carousel included:
– Fuse bead flags from all the different Asian countries
– Japanese fans
– Indian Elephant Mobiles
– Chinese Dragons
– Matryoshka Dolls from Russia
– Henna hand designs and Rangoli patterns
What a wonderful afternoon in year 5! We have been so lucky to have Miss Waters’ friend Liv visit us today. She taught us how to write and say the numbers 1 – 10 in Cantonese and we practiced by asking our friends their ages.
Liv then taught us how to make a beautiful origami heart. We followed her instructions really carefully, it was a little tricky but we made some super ones. We decorated them by adding the Cantonese character for heart.
Thank you for coming to help us with our learning Liv.
Our continent for International Week is Asia. So yesterday, we made a really yummy stir fry. It tasted amazing! Tracey showed us how and we included lots of lovely fresh, healthy vegetables. Lots of us went back for seconds (and thirds).
Thank you so much to some of the parents who came to help us with our learning.
Today we had a visit from Vera, a Patterdale cross breed. We thought she looked like a puppy but she was older, it’s just that she was small and lively! She was also very calm though, and friendly. She listened to us read whilst relaxing and enjoying some attention. A lot of us said we wanted to take her home!
We had a special visit from Barnie the Dinosaur today to help us start our new whole-school book “Dear Dinosaur”! Barnie was a little bit silly, but he was very friendly! We learned about the height and length of a real tyrannosaurus rex, as well as finding out about their diet. We can’t wait to read our new book!
Year 5 led a beautiful collective worship in our assembly yesterday, and gave each class a wish box, with messages to help us reflect every day. Thank you Year 5!
Yesterday, Mr B visited us for a very special science themed day. We learnt all about Evolution and Inheritance through lots of different activities.
Firstly, we learnt about different theories and famous scientists, followed by a fun and exciting sports session before lunch. Finally, we worked together to look at special fossils and sort them.
Can you tell me a fascinating fact you have learnt year 5?
This morning, Dr Luke came to visit us. He works in intensive care looking after people.
We leant A, B and C. They all have a special meaning.
A – Airway
B – Breathing
C – Circulation
Dr Luke told us how to put someone in the recovery position if they are unconscious. We practised on our friends.
He then taught us CPR and we got to have a go on the special model who we called Mr Lowry.
We also looked at Brendan’s airway on an ultrasound machine.
